Home Committees Government Relations

Utility Safety Partners has a standing Government Relations Committee to identify, track and monitor legislative, regulatory and public policy issues that may have an impact on the organization or its members.

The Committee, supported by staff and a retained consultant/lobbyist team, maintains collaborative relationships with elected officials, staff and policymakers at the municipal, provincial and federal levels.

The Government Relations team is responsible for:

  • Relationship Building: Working with government stakeholders to ensure a positive regulatory and policy environment for USP and its members.
  • Policy and Legislative Analysis: Assessing and researching the potential impacts of policy, regulation and legislation, and developing strategy and communications vehicles to support any necessary engagement with government and policy stakeholders.
  • Advocacy and Lobbying: Organizing campaigns, meeting directly with elected officials and government staff to promote USP’s interests.

USP and its contract consultants are registered provincial and federal lobbyists, adhering to the highest ethical and governance standards as required by Canadian lobbyist Acts.
