Damage Prevention Professional Certification
It’s time to
Advance and recognize the professionals who safeguard energy and utility infrastructure through effective damage prevention.
The Damage Prevention Professional Certification (DPPC) is a new, industry‑built credential being designed to professionalize the damage‑prevention role, create credible career pathways, and set consistent, competency‑based expectations across the sector.

Background & Rationale
Damage prevention protects people, the environment, and critical utility infrastructure, yet many professionals enter the field by happenstance, without formal titles, recognition, or clear career pathways. Since the late 1990s when public awareness programs became mandatory the field has grown without a dedicated curriculum or credential, drawing practitioners from varied disciplines and resulting in inconsistent experience and understanding of the broader ecosystem.
The DPPC aims to change that.
Although this is a global program, Utility Safety Partners is underwriting the program, leveraging its long-standing non‑profit status, financial strength, and the guidance of its Training Standards Committee.
More information can be found in the DPPC backgrounder.
